  AWARD CRITERIA
 
  1. The CE.R.I.E.S. Research Award is intended to honor the accomplishments of a researcher in dermatology and to encourage his or her continued research activity. The field of research may be fundamental or clinical in nature and must concern the physiology or biology of healthy skin and/or its reactions to environmental factors. The money granted must be associated with further research projects.
  2. Applicants should have completed their clinical and research training and have a proven track record in the field of dermatological research, including the subject area of proposed research.
  3. Applications must by typed in English and include:
    - the candidate's curriculum vitae
    - a summary of the candidate's current research
    - a description of his or her projected research
    - a signed copy of the award conditions
  4. Work may be performed at any private or nonprofit making hospital, university or research laboratory.
  5. The applications for the CE.R.I.E.S. Research Award will be reviewed by a panel of experts, consisting of the Scientific Director of the CE.R.I.E.S., the President and Members of the CE.R.I.E.S.' Scientific Advisory Board. The jury's decision will be final and without appeal.
  6. The selection process will take into account the following criteria: the quality and quantity of published research, professional recognition, evidence of sustained interest in the Award's intended scope of research, and the quality of the applicant's research proposal.
  7. The awardee will be selected by the end of September 2008. Although the call for applications is being made in several countries, only one Award will be granted. Award funding will be disbursed in one single payment which will be made at the latest on January 30, 2008. The recipient will be personally notified of the decision to award him or her the CE.R.I.E.S. Research Award.

THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS JUNE 2, 2008. ALL APPLICANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED THAT THEIR APPLICATION HAS BEEN RECEIVED.
   
  INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS
 
GENERAL: Applications must be typed in English. The jury cannot accept unclear applications or applications where information is missing.
CURRICULUM VITAE: Should contain: name, date of birth, nationality, home address and telephone number, business address with telephone and fax numbers, present and previous occupations and university education.
PUBLICATIONS: Published papers with names of co-authors, titles, journal, issue and year of publication. Attach a second list of what you consider to be your ten best published papers.
SUMMARY OF CURRENT RESEARCH: Give a brief description of your current research, including:
- a summary of your current research (one page single spaced), specifying its principal objectives
- the annual research budget (local currency)
- funding sources
- schedule
- location (name of Institute, address, country, phone and fax numbers, and email address if applicable)
- desired location for projected research (name of Institute, address, country, phone and fax numbers)
PROJECTED RESEARCH: Give a description of your projected research, including aims and methodology. Do not use more than three pages.
SIGNATURE: With your signature you agree to the conditions specified for the CE.R.I.E.S. Research Award.
   
  AWARD CONDITIONS - to be signed and returned with applications
  An official announcement of the awardee will be made in the press. The awardee accepts that his or her name as well as the object of the research will be mentioned in the press on this occasion.

The Scientific Committee of the CE.R.I.E.S. should be kept informed of all publications deriving from the Award sponsored research.

The recipient agrees to acknowledge the CE.R.I.E.S. in his or her scientific publications deriving from the research carried out during a one year period following the announcement of the Award by way of the following phrase: "The researcher is a recipient of the CE.R.I.E.S. Research Award".

Works acknowledging the CE.R.I.E.S. may be presented to the press by the CE.R.I.E.S. or the recipient him or herself in partnership with the CE.R.I.E.S..

The recipient will present the progress, in written or oral form as requested by the CE.R.I.E.S., of his or her research carried out during the 12 months following the announcement of the Award to the CE.R.I.E.S.' Advisory Board, and within 18 months (at the latest) following initiation of the Award. If in oral form, travel and accommodation expenses incurred by the awardee in connection with this presentation will be reimbursed on presentation of relevant receipts, on condition that such expenses will have been previously approved in writing by the CE.R.I.E.S.
